Great location!!!! 250 bed Acute Care Hospital north of Dallas, Texas seeking Director of Medical Surgical Services. The Director of Medical/Surgical Services is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and directing all functions of the Medical/Surgical departments in order to support the stated mission, vision and values of Medical Center of McKinney and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and promote, advocate and support the nursing staff's primary commitment to protect the health, safety and rights of the individual, family or community. The tasks and responsibilities include:

• Effectively operates the Medical/Surgical departments
• Continues the improvement of the department's processes and outcomes
• Complies with hospital and corporate policies and procedures
• Efficiently manages finances and resources
• Promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction
• Integrates the department services into the organization's overall plan for delivery of care and services
• Manages personnel in the accomplishment of designated goals and the provision of nursing care and services.
• Ensures that age and culturally appropriate care is given.
• Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and JCAHO requirements.
• Implements cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management decisions.
  
• Assists staff in providing patient care and services as needed.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Qualifications Required Job Qualifications include:

• Current licensure as an RN.
• Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider.
• National specialty certification preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Masters Degree in Nursing or related field strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of clinical nursing experience; Medical/Surgical background required.
• Must have at least 5 years of management experience.
• Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, strong communication skills and leadership abilities.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
