GREAT LOCATION!!!! North Dallas Hospital seeking Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner; 2 years exp. as NP and 5 years RN experience with a background in Cardiovascular required; certification as an Acute Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner required.

The Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist utilizes the nursing process based on an expanded knowledge base of pathophysiology and pharmacology to provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with potential or actual cardiovascular health needs; involved in education, consultation, performance improvement and research. The tasks and responsibilities include:

• Performs history and physical examinations.
• Dictates H&Ps and discharge summaries.
• Establishes medical diagnoses and determines a plan of care for short term and chronic health problems.
• Orders, obtains and interprets laboratory tests.
• Orders and evaluates interpretation of diagnostic studies.
• Prescribes medications within the NP's functions and in accordance with departmental and hospital policy.
• Instructs and educates patients and families.
• Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating care delivery for the cardiovascular patient in a variety of settings.
• Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
